Fatal R66 crash leaves 3 school pupils dead

Three high school pupils have been killed in a crash on the R-66 between Eshowe and Melmoth in Zululand.
A bus and a bakkie transporting pupils collided near the Mlalazi Bridge at about 7am.
Transport's Zinhle Mngomezulu says investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
"It is alleged that one of the drivers was trying to overtake when the accident happened. Three counts of culpable homicide are being investigated.
"We've got RTI Eshowe busy doing traffic control due to the fact that we've got one lane which is obstructed in that area. We urge motorists to drive cautiously, we are experiencing adverse weather conditions in that area, roads are wet and slippery," she said.
KZN Emergency Medical services 11 other pupils were hurt in the crash, one seriously.
