Mbali Sikhosana says her older sister Thembeka, who suffers from a heart condition, was distressed and needed to go to the hospital on Sunday night.

But she claims the medics, who arrived to transport her sister, refused to carry her down a flight of stairs to the ambulance.

They reportedly accused the family of being too slow and left without the patient.

"We tried our very best to be fast, and when we got back to the ambulance and asked for a stretcher because it was difficult for us to lift her to the vehicle, they said it was not their problem, and it's not their job to get out of the car so they cannot give us the stretcher.

"She was crying because he whole body was sore. When we got to the steps, she walked for about two to three steps, and then she sat down because it was difficult for her to breathe, and she started having a seizure. The guys who were still in the car told the driver lets close the door and leave, these people are serious, and then they left."

KZN Health says it's deeply disturbed by the allegations and has since suspended the medics.

Sikhosana says her sister's being treated at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital.

"She is supposed to be at Inkosi Albert Luthuli because of her heart condition, but the doctor told me is too hard because they also detected and found TB in her tummy, so they need to manage the TB before they can transfer her to Inkosi Albert Luthuli.

"So far, they found kidney failure, liver failure, and she has lost memory plus the heart diseases because the doctor said one valve in the heart is not working at all."
