The young model, who was murdered by her boyfriend in his Sandton flat, would have turned 24-years-old today.

Sandile Mantsoe drove Mokoena to a stretch of veld in Lyndhurst and set her body alight.

Her murder sent shockwaves across the country, with people calling for urgent action against gender-based violence.

Karabo's sister Bontle says it's still painful to accept that Karabo is no more.

"You would think as time would pass - it will get better. But it doesn't get better because you think about all the things that she is missing out on - in our lives especially. For us, it's sad and hard to accept. When I have anxiety attacks - I ask is this something that is going to go away or is it something that I'm going to live with," she said.
