Faf du Plessis steps down as CSA captain
Updated | By Myron Naicker
Proteas skipper, Faf Du Plessis says he remains committed to playing all three formats of the game. The 35-year-old announced his resignation from the captaincy of the Test and T20 teams this morning.
Rewarding, tough and on other days a lonely road, that's how Faf Du Plessis has described his tenure as the leader of the Proteas pack.
He amassed over 5000 runs, including 11 centuries and 28 fifties since December 2012.
Among the major series wins in his time in charge, South Africa beat Austalia 5 nil at home and claimed a 2-1 test series win Down Under.

He says stepping down was one of the toughest decisions he has had to make in his career.
But the break during the recent ODI and T20 series against England gave him the time he needed to reflect and plan for the near future
Du Plessis says his focus now is to contribute to the team as a batsman and mentor the next generation of leaders.
