Ezemvelo's senior financial manager Ibrahim Moola says the cut will be increased to R149-million the following year.

He said the organisation's budget would have been around R749-million had the cut not been implemented.

Moola says they now need to look at where they can reduce costs.

One of the identified measures being considered is freezing vacant posts.

He says cutting the operational budget is not an option as this would impact on service delivery.

''We have to re-look at things that we do and how we can do them better to continue doing what we have to do. The cuts are at the national level going all the way down to the bottom.

"We weren't the only one in government to be affected, the department itself also took a knock on their budget at the same time this flows down to the entities that they have. Among the entities in our mother department, we are one of the largest,'' he said.
