Exercise caution in game parks: Isimangaliso CEO
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The Isimangaliso Wetland Park is warning patrons to be more cautious while visiting their parks.
It comes after a man was attacked by a hyena at its Cape Vidal camp last week.
CEO Andrew Zaloumis says the camper had been asleep on a stretcher in a small tent with the window-flap open.
He says the hyena bit him through the gauze - leaving him with a broken nose and minor cuts on the face.
Zaloumis says they have set up traps for the hyena.
"People must act responsibly. You must sleep in tents that are closed. If you are going to be walking at night time in the campsite, you should carry a torch.
"If you see anything unusual - any animal behaving in an unusual manner, you should inform park management. We have a 24-hour emergency number," he said.
