Excitement, anxiety as new academic year starts in KZN

Wednesday is back to school for thousands of pupils in
coastal areas. While many pupils will be starting a new grade, for some it will
be their first day at big school or their last year in high school.

Newswatch spoke to some youngsters who are looking forward to starting their new grades in primary school.
"I'm so excited to go to school because I can play lots of games and it's so much fun, I'm going to grade 2," said one little girl.
Another boy said he is going to grade 5 with set goals.
"My goal this year is to get the best grades ever."
This while one boy said he is super-excited for school.
"This year I want to impress my teachers, parents and have good grades."
It will be serious business for Durban pupils who will be starting grade 11 and matric in 2023.
One grade 11 girl said she is thrilled about school.
"This year I want to achieve good grades to impress my teachers and parents while another grade 11 learner says she is excited but also anxious.

"My plans for this year is to study hard and push myself to achieve good results. Hopefully, I can go to matric next year."
A matric learner told Newswatch this is a major year for her.
"I just want to make myself and my family proud."
