Evaluation into existence of provincial entities underway
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A task team in KZN is already looking into a number of entities to determine how officials can cut the amount of money spent on them.
KZN Finance MEC, Belinda Scott, hosted a post-budget breakfast at the Durban ICC yesterday. Several small and medium business owners attended the event. Scott says there’s a perception that some entities are draining the province’s economy.
She says the continued existence of others is being questioned.
"We have entities that are not entities but still have boards. So the first task is doing a valuation of what these entities are doing and whether what they are doing can be incorporated," she said.
"It has also has an element of a legal process because some of these entities are created through the legislation," Scott said.
