The Hawks say, Deputy Head of Supply Chain Management, Sandile Ngcobo was taken into custody - along with his wife Vuyiswa Ngcobo and three company directors, Freedom Blose, Hlenga Sibisi and Mzwandile Dludla earlier today.

Spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi explains what the group is accused of.

"Apparently there were was a vehicle that was bought, and monies were coming from the service providers, and the car was meant for his wife. We were then able to link all these payments that were made. The car itself was about R1 million," he said.

The five have already appeared in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crime Court and have been granted bail of R10 000 each.

Their case has been postponed to next month.

Just last week, Ngcobo was in court with other co-accused in the corruption case, including former mayor Zandile Gumede.

The court heard that the documents show a further R181 million was paid to service providers for services that were never rendered.

The tender is said to have been worth R208 million.
