eThekwini's 'No dogs' rule at Morningside park challenged
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
With eThekwini's Parks department having instituted a 'No dogs' rule in Jameson Park in Morningside a local councillor has started a petition to have it overturned.

Ernest Smith says the park was closed without inviting the community for public participation.
The municipality said the decision was taken after instances of some owners allowing their dogs to roam around without leashes.
It also says some dog owners were also failing to clean up after their pets.
Smith says they hope to reverse the municipality's decision.
"I started the petition to provide collective support for the community who are calling for the park to be open to dogs", he said.
"It shows there a strong community base that is pro-animal and enjoys green space because, unfortunately, due to the urbanisation there is not a lot of green space", Smith said.
