eThekwini waste collection services disrupted by strike

The eThekwini Municipality says there's been a temporary disruption to their waste collection services due to an unauthorised strike by workers.

Scientists need to develop technologies to get rid of plastic waste.

Workers took to the streets on the N2 in Isipingo near the old airport on Wednesday.

It's understood they also caused disruptions in the Durban CBD to demand better pay, among other issues.

"Service delivery may be affected; unfortunately,” said South African Municipal Workers Union spokesperson Xolani Dube.

“We are prepared to engage the city. We also want to see our city as part of our livelihood because we derive our lives from the very same city to be a very clean city and provide our services as expected."
