eThekwini warns of rotational water restrictions
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini Municipality says it has begun implementing rotational water restrictions in parts of the city’s northern, southern and inner west regions.

The city has been battling water shortages since the devastating floods hit the province earlier this month.
The floods have left some 400 people dead and left the provincial government with a repair bill expected to run into the billions of rands.
In a statement on Saturday, the city said the rotational water restrictions is meant to ensure that its reservoirs contain enough water.
The municipality can’t say when exactly these restrictions will take place.
These times, it says, will depend on the levels of its reservoirs.
Other areas in the city won’t be affected by the rotation programme, as they are already dealing with supply constraints.
Officials say the programme is based on the shortfall in supply from the Durban Heights Water Treatment Plant and the South Coast Augmentation Pipeline which are being replaced following the floods.
