Both municipalities have water restrictions in place due to the drought still gripping the province.

Over the December holidays, the Ugu District municipality felt the wrath of residents and tourists on the south coast when water supply to several areas was shut down by striking municipal workers in an act of sabotage.

Ugu spokesperson France Zama says they have contingency plans in place should there be an unplanned water cut.

"There are plans in place to ensure there are no water interruptions. We are ready in terms of water supply and sanitation services," he said.

eThekwini municipal spokesperson, Tozi Mthethwa says while they've ensure sufficient supply, people must still use water responsibly.

"We are still going through the drought. We have sufficient water to last us through Easter weekend and beyond but it all depends on how we use our water," she said.
