Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The eThekwini Municipality says it will be tightening security at its reservoirs, following the discovery of skeletal human remains inside one of the water compartments in Verulam on Friday.
Dive teams recovered the remains after a municipal worker who found them alerted authorities.

The compartment was drained, and workers have been treating it.
The City says it will be refilled by Tuesday. It has assured residents water from the reservoir's other compartment is safe to drink.
KwaZulu-Natal SAPS has sent the remains for analysis for possible identification, as well as to determine the cause of death and date of death.
eThekwini Municipality's Infrastructure and Human Settlements Committee Chairperson, Thanduxolo Sabelo says they will help police investigations.
"We definitely did report the matter to the South African Police Services, and the matter is being investigated."
"We are indeed going to be adding security features in all our reservoirs in the eThekwini Municipality which includes adding cameras in all our reservoirs. So indeed security will be upgraded as soon as possible," he said.
