eThekwini set to appoint new mayor on Wednesday

Residents of eThekwini
are set to get a new mayor this week.

A new head of the city will be announced on Wednesday.
It’s been almost a month since the ANC announced that Mxolisi Kaunda would be recalled and redeployed to the National Council of Provinces.

About a week later a new mayor was expected to be elected at a council meeting but that didn't happen.
At the time we were told by city officials that there were still some works to be done before a new feat citizen could be handed the mayoral chain.
The ANC in KZN also confirmed that after Mxolisi's redeployment, three candidates had been short-listed.
The city has been without a mayor for almost four weeks, a situation which some opposition parties have described as disappointing.
The city says a new mayor will be appointed at a full council meeting on Wednesday.
