eThekwini resumes bus service
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
eThekwini's bus services in Umlazi have resumed on Monday.
Locals of the south Durban area had gone without the municipal bus service for several weeks due to the vehicles being attacked.
It's understood some commuters had resorted to stoning and causing other damage to busses to vent their anger and them arriving late and their frequency on certain routes.
The City's Lindiwe Khuzwayo says they've since taken measures to try and resolve this issues.
"Commuters in Umlazi can expect an improvement in the municipal bus service from tomorrow, May 29. This follows a series of meetings between city leadership and role players in the service to resolve the challenges that have frustrated Umlazi commuters in the past few weeks leading to some buses being stoned.
Municipal officials will be monitoring the improvements to ensure that commuters receive the level of service they expect.
The municipality appeals to the community to refrain from damaging buses to ensure that an adequate number of buses are available to service commuters at all the times."
