EThekwini residents called on to save water
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
EThekwini Municipality has urged residents in and around Durban to please reduce their water consumption by 50%.
This as water levels at Hazelmere Dam continue to fall. Hazelmere Dam levels are currently sitting at under 26%.
The municipality says the uMgeni River system that supplies most of Durban is also under severe strain. The city’s urged residents to continue to use water sparingly in these tough times adding that leaking and burst water pipes should be reported to eThekwini as soon as possible.
Bear in mind that residents are prohibited from using their hosepipes at this stage.
You’ve also been encouraged to wash vehicles using two buckets of water which can save up to 300 litres per wash.
