Municipal officials are working around the clock to restore critical basic
services to communities hardest hit by this weeks storm.

According to preliminary assessments, areas such as Phoenix, Inanda, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu, St Wendolins, Nazareth, New Germany, Westville, Reservoir Hills, Umkomaas, Mbumbulu and Folweni bore the brunt of the storm on Tuesday.
Four people have been confirmed dead and seven people are still missing.
A total of 138 houses were left destroyed while 27 people are still being sheltered at Amaoti Hall as plans to resettle them are being finalised.

Municipal spokesperson Lindiwe Khuzwayo says many substations, waterworks installations, roads, bridges, and libraries have also suffered damages.
"Damage to municipal infrastructure is extensive, particularly to water and electricity network."
Many communities remain without water and electricity but technicians are expediting repairs and supply to a number of areas has already been restored the municipality regrets the inconvenience to communities and is appealing for patience."
