The eThekwini Municipality says its job creation efforts are paying off.
It's been commenting on the results of Stats SA's Quarterly Labour Force Survey.
It revealed last week that Durban achieved a year-on-year decline of 9% in the unemployment rate.
The municipality says it's very pleased with its progress towards economic recovery thanks to its job creation efforts over the past year.

According to the survey's first quarter results for 2023, Durban's official unemployment rate stands at 19.4%.
At least 124 000 people were employed over the past year.
eThekwini generated the second-highest number of jobs compared to other cities.
Johannesburg created 174 000 new jobs and Cape Town 114 000.
Durban officials say despite the city losing the largest number of jobs due to unfortunate events in recent years, the clawback indicates the increasing confidence of individuals seeking employment.
