eThekwini 'not exempt from load shedding'
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini officials say residents and businesses in the
municipality are now not exempt from load shedding.

The city issued a statement through its pages on social media to provide clarity after the power cuts were intensified yesterday to stage 4 throughout the country.
But eThekwini has explained that due there already being reduced loads, or low demand for electricity after the recent floods, there isn't a need at this point to shed more load.

This means that automated loadshedding is not possible. It's added there are many abnormal network configurations because of the storm disaster - so some customers may not have power supply in their normal shedding blocks.
The city warned residents to be prepared for power cuts though.
Now Eskom said that capacity shortages are what led to the utility moving the country from stage 3 to stage 4 power cuts.
Unit 2 of the Kusile Power Station which tripped yesterday was only expected to load to full capacity overnight.
