Spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela explains they had relandscaped the Loon Road Cemeteries, where graves older than 10-years were exhumed and the remains reburied at a smaller cemetery

"eThewkini is one of those metros that is on the receiving end of the shortage of the burial space.

"The process of procuring more land is underway in north, south and western parts of the city that will be accessible to all our residents," said Mayisela.

Mayisela also urged all undertakers operating in the city to register with the Municipal database.

"There are quite a number of unscrupulous undertakers that happened to have taken advantage of the poor but also its a bit difficult for us to manage the industry so we need to ensure that all undertakers have the right papers to be able to do their work."
