Ethekwini mayor vows to demolish more abandoned buildings
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda says they are preparing to tear down more dilapidated buildings in the city centre.

He says that some of them have been illegally occupied.
Kaunda told East Coast Breakfast on Wednesday morning that the city had identified 84 buildings that are in a dreadful state.
"We've gone to court, and the court has given us the right to demolish some of those bad buildings at the Point area, and I think we have demolished more than six of those buildings. There is one that we are still awaiting a decision."
The issue has been brought back into sharp focus following the deadly fire at a hijacked building in the Johannesburg CBD two weeks ago.
Seventy-seven people were killed.
