eThekwini to help manage Glebelands Hostel

The occupation and rent paid by residents at Durban's notorious Glebelands Hostel will from now on be handled by the eThekwini Municipality.
This is an effort to curb the violence at the hostel.
Dozens of people have been killed over accommodation at the hostel in the last two years.
Premier Senzo Mchunu has recently given a progress report to the Provincial Executive Council on efforts to bring stability to the crime-ridden area.
His spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says the Premier will be partnering with regulatory bodies.
"We are satisfied with the level of safety measures put in place. We are strengthening all safety measures and we are enforcing manpower to deal with unruly elements in the area.
"The premier has offered to work with all stakeholders to ensure that there's stability. He has committed himself to work with the Human Right Commission and the Public Protector," he said.
