A Human Settlements and Infrastructure Committee report, identifying the sites, was tabled at yesterday's EXCO sitting.

Land is being secured due to ongoing concerns that most open spaces around the city are being invaded.

Eight different sites around the city have been identified.

These include Albert Park, the Warwick bus depot, the old drive in site, the Star Seaside Children’s Home, the Tennis Table Building, Victoria Park and Block AK - west of Gladys Manzi Road.

The city says the tabled report allows for long-term leases in respect of the properties for an initial period of 30 years, with the option to renew for a further 20 years.

It also allows for the rezoning of the properties to accommodate the proposed developments, which will be mixed use.

The city says the Head of Human Settlements together with the Acting Head of Real Estate will sign memoranda of agreement with social housing institutions to ensure that the envisaged developments are completed.
