eThekwini forced to shut water supply in north of Durban
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
eThekwini says it's been forced to shut water outlets in the city's northern parts.
The municipality says it needs to build up adequate water supplies in its reservoirs, and has asked residents and businesses to consume water sparingly, for now.
It says the demand for Reservoir Two at uMngeni-uThukela's Durban Heights Treatments Works is significantly higher than its supply.
This has left some areas north of Durban without running water or with an intermittent supply.
La Lucia, Umgeni Park, Umhlanga and Virginia are some of the affected areas.

eThekwini says the outlets were closed on Wednesday night.
Teams are monitoring and will open them when the reservoirs reach the appropriate level.
