eThekwini clarifies media ban during EXCO meetings
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
As a vote is expected to take place today on the proposed ban of the media and the public from certain eThekwini executive committee meetings, the municipality's moved to clarify what it entails.
The proposed amendments to the Rules of Order are contained in a report tabled at Monday's EXCO meeting.
It suggests members of the public and the media be excluded from sittings where sensitive matters are discussed.

Deputy Mayor Fawzia Peer says there's a misunderstanding.
"The media won't be allowed to use any electronic devices. Normally they sit with their cell-phones, recorders or iPads. I doubt it will be a total ban on entry, but it will be a ban on sensitive issues that are going to be discussed," she says.
