Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
The eThekwini Municipality is appealing to members of the public to refrain from attacking city workers.
It says municipal employees are getting attacked in some areas to attend to water and electricity outages.
In the latest incident, field workers were attacked by a protesting community in KwaMashu.
"We keep on experiencing instances where our employees are being attacked by members of the community," says municipal spokesperson Msawakhe Mayisela.

"We'd like to state categorically that some of these outages that we are experiencing, more especially when it comes to electricity, are as a result of illegal connections, cable theft.
"We are appealing to the members of the community to refrain from doing this, but we are also appealing to law-abiding citizens to expose these individuals."
