eThekwini awaiting test results on Fawzia Peer's bottled water
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The eThekwini Municipality says at this point, it can't say what was in the water that Fawzia Peer drank at a Durban council meeting yesterday - sparking an online trend that the Acting Mayor had allegedly been poisoned.
The city's refuted those claims - saying there's been no confirmation of this. In a statement, it says it is waiting for the results of lab tests conducted on the bottled water that Peer drank.
For precautionary measures she went to the doctor for a check-up. The water she consumed has been sent to the laboratory for testing.

We will await for the results from the laboratory as well as her doctor’s findings before making any conclusion on the matter.
eThekwini says she complained about the taste of the water and as a precaution - went to the doctor for a check-up.
Media reports were swirling yesterday that Peer had been rushed to hospital after complaints that her water had apparently contained paraffin. Councillors at the meeting said that she didn't look well and was seen coughing.
But municipal officials don't want to speculate at this point - saying they want to hear from Peer's doctor before making a conclusion on what happened.
