eThekwini attends to power outages caused by Durban rains
Updated | By Khatija Nxedlana
Some areas under eThekwini Municipality are still without power following the heavy rainfall that started on Sunday.

Areas including Umlazi, Newlands East and Avoca are affected.
eThekwini's Roy Wienand says their teams are working around the clock trying to restore power to those areas.
Wienand says they are hoping to have sorted this out in the next two days.
He says about 20 of their substations in the metro became flooded and tripped.
"We have now restored supply to those 20 sub-stations but there's still approximately 1000 individual customers whose supply has tripped either to their homes or their businesses.
"We will attend to every single outage as soon as we can. We just appeal to customers to please bear with us. We just apologise to customers for the length of time," he said.
