Eskom warns of increased load shedding
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Eskom is asking people to switch off non-essential appliances during peak hours to avoid higher levels of rolling blackouts.
The country was already on 6 load shedding from Tuesday "until further notice".
Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says they are making the appeal due to the colder weather in parts of the country.
“We appeal to all the members of the public to reduce the electricity demand before 17:00 and 21:00 by switching off non-essential appliances, mainly geysers. swimming pool pumps and electric heaters.”
“The evening peek forecast for today is 29 609 megawatts, and yesterday's demand at evening peek is 33423 megawatts.”
