Eskom wants to retrieve billions in costs, causing tariff hikes

Eskom officials are trying to justify why the power utility should be allowed to recoup nearly R67-billion in costs.

The Energy Regulator of South Africa is holding public hearings in Durban - into the power utility's application.
If Eskom's request is approved - it will result in an increase electricity tariffs.
Eskom's Acting CFO, Calib Cassim says the amount they are seeking is a combined figure from over the past three years.
