Eskom stretches rolling blackouts into weekend
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Eskom COO Jan Oberholzer says stage 2 load shedding is set to continue until 5am on Saturday.
"We really do apologise for the very difficult situation we are placing the people of South Africa and the negative impact that we fully understand that we have on the economy."
Eskom reintroduced the power cuts on Monday afternoon after generation units tripped at five power stations.
Two others were shut down.

Briefing the media on Tuesday morning, Oberholzer says they are trying to get three units up and running by this weekend.
"Matimba 5, Matla 5 and Camden 7 they are all expected to return to service by the weekend.
"But as we all know, due to the unreliability and the unpredictability of the generators and to prevent the need for any higher stage of load shedding, we, unfortunately, have to inform the pupil that we will continue with stage 2 load shedding."
