Eskom says no load shedding during summer maintenance
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Eskom says its scheduled planned maintenance should not interrupt power supply.
The power utility carries out maintenance across its stations during the summer months and - over this period - there is a reduction of about 5 500 megawatts from the grid.
The utility's assurance also comes in response to the DA's claim that load shedding will musher in darkness again from the end of this month.
Bernard Magoro, who is the Systems Operations Manager at Eskom, says the DA's claim is absolutely unfounded.
He says all aspects of operations are well under control.
"Some aspects we can predict but there are also aspects of unpredictability, so in there lies the risk", Magoro said.
"However as far as the plan is concerned there no load shedding planned for this summer", he said.
