Eskom replenishing coal stock ahead of Winter
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The lights will be staying on this Winter.
This according to Eskom who's been responding to reports of a coal shortage in the country - saying those are not true.
The utility's Khulu Phasiwe says measures have been put in place to ensure there's enough electricity later this year.
The demand for power grows during Winter.
Phasiwe's urged people not to panic - saying they've been strategically moving their coal stocks.
"What we are doing is diverting coal from some of that stations that have more than enough to ones that are experiencing low volumes. We also have the back-up of diesel generators. We are in the process of getting approval from National Treasury so that we can issue contracts that will give us additional coal," Phasiwe said.
