Updated | By Newswatch
Load shedding has been ramped up to stage 4, Eskom confirmed on Tuesday morning.
The utility says it was forced to escalate the power cuts schedule from stage 2 after units tripped at its Majuba and Tutuka power stations in Mpumalanga.
"Regretfully, Eskom has just been forced to implement stage 4 load shedding at 07:20," says spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.

Due to the flood disaster KZN, eThekwini remains exempt from load shedding.
Eskom's management is due to hold a media briefing to update the country on the latest developments at 10am.
