Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
Eskom has confirmed a fire which broke out at Unit 2 of its Duvha power station in Mpumalanga on Monday.

The fire comes as the power utility continues to battle sabotage and corruption as it struggles to keep the lights on.
The unit had been offline for a general overhaul since January 2022.
Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
“The fire was quickly extinguished. Eskom is currently investigating the root cause of the fire, and the extent of the damage and the possible return to service.”
No injuries were reported.
