Eskom believes the completion of Unit 5 at the Medupi Power Station in Limpopo will go a long way in solving South Africa's load shedding problems.

CEO Brian Molefe addressed stakeholders in Durban yesterday. He says there's been minimal load shedding over the past three months.
"I think Unit 5 of Medupi will be a critical point where we can safely say that we are out of load shedding territory. We are not out of the woods yet.
"We can expect perhaps load shedding for an hour or two when things go terribly wrong,"he said.
Molefe says the way they're now carrying out maintenance has reduced the risk of load shedding.
"In the past our reaction to load shedding was perhaps driven by panic because we tried to do all the maintenance in a short space of time so that we did not mind that there was load shedding as long as we were doing maintenance," he said.
