Eskom moves up start of stage 4 load shedding
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Embattled power utility Eskom announced the implementation of stage 4 rolling blackouts on Friday morning.

The utility had planned to implement stages 2 and 4 over the weekend, with stage 4 to have started at 4pm.
It will now implement the stage 4 planned power cuts from 10am on Friday until 5am on Saturday.
In a short statement on Friday, Eskom Crisis Communications Manager Menzi Mngomezulu said the escalation was due to higher demand.
A cold snap has hit large parts of the country, driving up electricity use.
"Due to higher than anticipated demand, Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 10:00 this morning until 05:00 on Saturday,” said Mngomezulu.
