Eskom hopes to lift load shedding soon
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Eskom says it intends on reducing the load shedding schedule to stage 2, as more generation units return to service over the next two days.
"We intend to drop it then to stage 2 and then by after evening peak on Friday evening, we will be hopefully in a position to lift load shedding in its entirety for the weekend depending on how the system performs," says Eskom's CEO Andre de Ruyter.
The country's experiencing stage 3 load shedding, while flood-hit eThekwini's been left off the schedule.

De Ruyter has told a media briefing on Thursday morning that they are hoping to lift the power cuts entirely next week.
"However that is dependent on the stability of our generation units because we are all now aware there are risks in the system that are difficult to forecast and predict."
