Eskom eases load shedding to stage 5
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Embattled power utility Eskom has announced the easing of rolling blackouts to stage 5 from Friday morning.
This after the utility had implemented stage 6 earlier this week when a number of units went off-line and while Eskom also ramped up planned maintenance.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says stage 5 has been implemented due to improved generation capacity and the refilling of emergency reserves.
"Stage 5 load shedding will be implemented tomorrow from 5am until 4pm (on Friday). Eskom will publish another update on Friday afternoon.
"We plead with members of the public to reduce the demand during the evening peak between 5pm to 9pm."
