Eskom drops load shedding to stage 4
Updated | By Newswatch
Demand is lower than expected, so there will no longer be stage 6 load shedding from 4pm on Friday.
Instead, the blackouts will continue in stage 4 until 10pm and then move down to stage 2 until am on Saturday.
"Stage 4 load shedding will then be implemented at 07:00 – 22:00 on both Saturday and Sunday. During 22:00 - 07:00 on both Saturday and Sunday load shedding will be at stage 2," says spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.

"Eskom cautions that this small reprieve is due to lower than anticipated demand during the weekend and continues to evaluate the situation and closely monitor the system. We will communicate and implement any changes as may be necessary.
"We currently have 3 104MW on planned maintenance, while another 17 431MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns."
