Eskom disputes state capture report
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The Eskom Board maintains it never had a chance to respond to allegations made in the former Public Protector's State of Capture report.
Board chairperson Ben Ngubane again hit out at former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, in the parastatal's second press conference in two days.
"Had she made an effort to get Eskom's side of the story, she might have come to a different finding. The transactions that we made were entirely commercial.
The report looked into Eskom's lucrative contracts with Tegeta to supply coal to the state owned entity.
The report also shows dozens of phone calls between Eskom CEO Brian Molefe and the controversial Gupta family, who owns Tegeta.
Board member Pat Naidoo delivered a presentation showing why they will dispute the content of the report.
"Eskom disputes the observations of the Public Protector's report as it is not based on fact. Based on the Public Protector's request, the facts contained in this presentation is submitted," says Naidoo.
