Eskom corruption ‘makes Guptas look like a joke’ – Malema
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Eskom has come in for sharp criticism as police stations in the country continue to be left in the dark during load shedding.
The EFF says despite a court order they be exempt from the power cuts, along with hospitals and schools, police stations are still forced to close during the outages.
The party's Leigh-Ann Mathys says this puts more pressure on our already under-resourced police force.
"Recently, in a landmark ruling by the North Gauteng High Court, there was a mandate issued that all hospitals, clinics, schools and police stations must be exempt from electricity disruptions and this significant judgement was based on a finding that the State had repeatedly failed in its constitutional and statutory obligations.

"During load shedding, citizens are at great risk because we all know that criminals exploit darkness, then we have a reporting system in our country that is already deeply flawed for rape victims."
EFF leader Julius Malema also spoke about the power crisis during an address at the party's fundraising gala dinner in Johannesburg on Thursday night.
"What we are experiencing today at Eskom makes the Guptas look like a joke. Today, more than 300 people in communities near Camden who were promised training...are still waiting, stranded, unemployed and without an income."
