Eskom confident new campaign will reduce outages
Updated | By Tamasha Khanyi
In its efforts to continue decreasing the demand for electricity, Eskom says it's launching an energy saving campaign.
"And we are targeting to reduce the unplanned losses by a further 1.7 gigawatts. This will be made up from 1.3 gigawatts from partial load loss deduction."
CEO, Dan Marokane, held a briefing on Friday on the state of the system ahead of winter.

He says the campaign, launching next Thursday, allows the nation to play its part in keeping load shedding at lower stages:
"Our ability to reduce load shedding this winter still depends on our collective collaboration."
The power utility says there should be no more than stage two load shedding during the cold months.
It’s been 31 days since Eskom implemented loadshedding. The break from rolling blackouts has been attributed to improved generation capacity, sufficient emergency reserves, and lower demand.
