Eskom accused of taking anti-renewable energy stance
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Eskom is being accused of pushing anti-renewable energy propaganda.

During his State of the Systems briefing in Cape Town Eskom CEO, Brian Molefe, said renewables have been disappointing because they had failed to contribute power when it was needed most.
However Greenpeace’s Energy Campaign Manager, Melita Steele, says renewable energy projects have added more than 1 800 Megawatts of installed capacity to the grid in just two and a half years.
"Eskom's coal powered projects are not only not hugely polluting but are hugely over budgeted and heavily delayed at a time when renewable energy projects are delivering on time and on budget," she said.
"So Eskom's CEO is essentially calling the only source of electricity that is actually delivering in South Africa into question," Steele said.
