EShowe family massacre victims laid to rest

The victims of the eShowe family massacre have been laid to rest.

Elderly couple Octavia and Christopher Khumalo, their daughter, Mbali Khumalo who was 37, 17-year-old Snothile Hlongwane and eight-year-old Thabo Khumalo and Anothando Sgampu were shot and killed in their home late last month. 


A nine-year-old girl survived the attack by hiding under a bed. Christopher's nephew, 


Sthembiso Mthimkhulu, was arrested a day after the attack. He's expected to apply for bail next week. 


Octavia's sister, Thokozani Mbatha, says they buried her sister, her niece and the two eight-year-old children in Inanda, north of Durban yesterday. 


She says her brother-in-law and the teenager were laid to rest last week...


"We are still grieving", Mbatha said.


"It has been the saddest thing that I have ever seen in my life", she said.


The surviving child is still traumatised and continues to receive counselling.
