Residents of the Estcourt community are being urged to work with police and provide information that could lead to the arrests of others allegedly involved in cannibalism.

This week five people, including a traditional healer, appeared in court on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder. They were arrested last week Friday.

The hunt is now on for more suspects potentially involved in the alleged cannibalism syndicate that has rocked the small central KZN town and grabbed headlines across South Africa and internationally.

Police are also searching for possible victims. It is still unknown how many people could have been involved in the syndicate but police believe women were lured, raped and killed at the traditional healer's home. The small thatched hut's windows were covered when Newswatch visited the area this week, making it impossible to see inside.

In a press statement released yesterday, the Department of Community Safety in KZN urged people to help police find others involved.

They have asked police to leave no stone unturned to ensure all those linked to the crime are brought to book.
