Updated | By Masechaba Sefularo
The Equality Court sitting in the High Court in Johannesburg has dismissed the hate speech case brought by lobby group Afriforum against the Economic Freedom Fighters over the singing of the Dubula ibunu (Kill the Boer/Kiss the Boer) chant.

When handing down his judgment on Thursday, Judge Edwin Molahlehi found Afriforum failed to prove the song constitutes hate speech.

Surrounded by EFF supporters who sang the controversial chant - the party’s Omphile Maotwe said they were vindicated.
“This racist Afriforum wanted us to pay R500 000. So you can see that their motive is to destroy the EFF, and we can say to South Africans that nothing and no one will destroy the EFF.”
Afriforum has confirmed it will be appealing the judgment.
