Elephants terrorising Nongoma communities culled
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has confirmed culling two elephants that were reportedly terrorising communities in the Masokaneni area in Nongoma.
It says three escaped at the Hluhluwe Game Reserve last week, and only one was successfully brought in.
The other two were destroyed on Friday.
The wildlife entity's Musa Mntambo says the elephants had wandered out multiple times.

"We received various complaints from the local community, and to bring them in was putting the lives of the community in danger, and we destroyed two.
“From the beginning of this year, they have been coming out, and we take them back with the helicopter, and after a few days, they will come out again. That's why we destroyed them because they are putting the lives of the communities in danger.”
