Elderly woman shot at bus stop in Durban North

An elderly woman who was shot in Briardene, north of Durban, is in a critical condition in hospital.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst says paramedics were called to the corner of North Coast and Effingham Roads late Wednesday afternoon.
The woman was waiting at a bus stop when she was attacked.

"When medics arrived on the scene, they found the lady unresponsive on the floor, noting a large open wound as well as extensive blood loss," says Herbst.
"On scene were Marshall Security, Greenwood Park SAPS and provincial emergency services.
“The woman was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner and once stabilised was transported to the hospital for further care."
